Published quarterly, FREE to view online, on Facebook, at ISSUU and on other platforms and FREE to download, Discover Bahrain travel magazine will also be available worldwide as a traditional hardcopy paper edition.
Aimed at both the business and tourist traveller, printed and published in the UK for international distribution, Discover Bahrain is probably the only independent travel magazine in the world dedicated to anyone, anywhere in the world, planning on visiting Bahrain, as well as for those travellers around the world who have already been to Bahrain, love the island and still want to stay connected to it.
It will also be available in the Kingdom for the thousands already working and living there, as well as for those across the Gulf region who regularly visit the Kingdom.
ISSUE 1 - available autumn 2017
Already in the first issue...
Busing Around – for visitors to Bahrain, taking a bus was once quite a challenge, but over the past couple of years the bus transportation network in the Kingdom has been transformed, with many buses now boasting air-con, free Wi-Fi, and even comfortable seats! And so, for the independent-minded traveller, in every issue our intrepid writer Sara will explore one particular bus route, from one historical place of interest to another.
Keeping up with the Gym – many people like to train while away, but finding a gym that offers day, week or monthly memberships can be quite a problem. In the first issue of Discover Bahrain, fitness and weight-training expert Ahmed looks at all the gyms and health clubs across the island that warmly welcome the visitor, with details on their fees, opening times, location, parking, equipment and facilities.
For the Love of Food - Rather than limited information on lots of different cuisines, in every issue of Discover Bahrain, our expert foodie will travel around the island focusing on just one particular cuisine, and detailing the locations and prices of all the places where it can be found. In the first issue she focuses on traditional Bahraini cuisine.
Hard to Find, and Out of the Way – In every issue, adventurer Mehr dons her back-pack, takes out her map, and gets out to those hard to find and out-of-the-way places that many visitors don't know about, or never get to explore.
For the Love of Art – From the traditional to the more contemporary, there are lots and lots of lovely art spaces in the Kingdom, and in the first issue art lover Noor gets to visit them all, looking at what exhibitions they have planned and when, as well as detailing their location and opening times, and chats to some of the owners about their visions for art in Bahrain.
Opening its Doors to the Disabled – Travelling around the Middle East as a wheelchair user can be a huge challenge, and Bahrain is no exception, but the Kingdom is slowly changing, with more and more places offering disabled access and facilities. In every issue of Discover Bahrain, wheelchair user Shalmi will be spotlighting places and venues that are wheelchair-friendly, as well highlighting as those that aren't.
And we have much, much more planned including museums, galleries, sightseeing, adventure, special events, sports, fitness, formula 1, shopping, malls, restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs, live music, indigenous music, crafts, culture, customs, hotels & accommodation, parks & open spaces, beaches & beach clubs, forts & historical sites, performing & visual arts, the islands - Al Dar island, Amwaj, Diyar al Muharraq etc., as well as articles on getting there - air, sea, land - getting around - public transport, taxi, bicycle, walking, boat - visa, documentation, embassies & consulates, health & hospitals, tourist offices & useful organisations and regular sections on: women travellers, activities for children, disabled travellers and senior travellers.
PLUS lots and lots... and lots of lovely photos of the island; its people, its places and its culture.
